A Flower's Desire

I don't desire to adorn, the fine jewelry of the celestial beauty;

I don't desire to bedeck, the necklace and allure the lady;

I don't desire to crown the corpse of brave kings during their final journey;

I don't desire to be offered to the God and indulge in my vainglory;

Instead

pluck me O'dear gardener, and place me on the path,

trodden by the brave soldiers, en route to lay down their lives,

for their beloved motherland.

Above poem is the English Translation of Hindi Poem 'Pushp Ki Abhilasha', written by great Hindi poet Makhanlal Chaturvedi. The original Hindi Poem was written in 1921 during India's Independence Movement against the British occupation.
